Scarlet Witch is a playable Hero in Marvel's Midnight Suns. Wanda Maximoff is present during the opening exposition of the game fighting alongside Captain Marvel, Iron Man and Doctor Strange, when Lilith enters the Sanctum Sanctorum. To Lilith's surprise, Wanda is able to defy her attack, and retreats. Strange decides they should go and find the only way to stop Lilith and opens a portal. Wanda is clearly afraid to return to the Abbey, so Dr. Strange leaves her at the Sanctum Sanctorum to maintain the Wards of Protection.
Throughout the game, the players can engage in various dialogues to find out more about the back story and the other characters. Wanda is no exemption. In the Abbey, the Hunter can interact with Sara to learn more about Wanda and her involvement in Agatha Harkness' death. In grief and afraid of Wanda's immense power, Sara sent her away to Doctor Strange, so she could continue her studies under Strange.
Wanda is captured by Lilith in Part I: The Awakening, and the Sanctum is destroyed.
Wanda's Journal becomes important in the missions that involve Agatha on the Abbey grounds.
Whether Chthon reached out to Wanda, or he found her by chance I can't say, but Wanda was blessed or cursed by Chthon... touched by the power of Chaos magic.Agatha Harkness when asked about Wanda.
History[]
As a child in Transia living near Wundagore Mountain, Wanda was chosen by Chthon to have chaos magic. She was unaware of her powers until she instinctively used them to save her father from an angry mob.
Wanda Maximoff once trained at the Abbey alongside Nico Minoru, under the tutelage of Agatha Harkness.[1] Wanda was with Agatha when the latter died, and Caretaker holds Wanda responsible. [2] As a result, Wanda was sent to train with Doctor Strange until she could control her abilities.[3]
During the events of Sanctum Symbiotum, Wanda is captured by Lilith and eventually becomes Fallen Scarlet Witch. She later relates that while she was under Lilith's control her perception was warped, for example, seeing her friends as having abandoned her.

Scarlet Witch - Area Abilities[]
Scarlet Witch is the master of abilities which affect a large area. Position her carefully to ensure her abilities hit the intended targets!
Friendship[]
If Hunter befriends Wanda, she begins to heal the wounds from her part in Agatha's death and her time as a Fallen.
Level 1[]
Wanda asks Hunter to meet in her room, so they can converse in private. Wanda can't understand why Hunter is so nice to her after everything she's done in the last year. Hunter knows that Wanda is not to blame for what happened. Wanda feels like Hunter is the only one not afraid of her. Hunter tells her that they don't scare easily; Wanda is grateful that there is someone who doesn't hate her.
Level 2[]
Wanda asks Hunter to watch a movie with her; it is calming to know she is at least "popular" with Hunter, recalling a lonely childhood. Wanda explains that for many years in Transia, it was just her and her twin brother Pietro scrounging to get by. An incident occurred where Wanda's chaos magic powers first manifested and she accidentally used them to save her father by turning half an angry mob to stone. Out of fear and prejudice, her father joined the remaining mob against Wanda. She was saved by Pietro, whose own powers of super speed also suddenly manifested, allowing him to carry Wanda to safety. Wanda tells Hunter that thanks to their influence, she is feeling a ray of hope in her life of misfortune.
Level 3[]
In the Chapel, Wanda explains this is where Agatha chose her as an apprentice. Hunter notes Agatha made her choices for good reasons; if she took an apprentice, it meant she believed deeply in Wanda. Wanda talks about how Agatha often spoke of Hunter's greatness, setting a bar for Wanda to reach as Agatha was grooming her to be the next Hunter. Even with Agatha's forgiveness, Wanda isn't sure she can trust herself to continue studying. Hunter encourages Wanda to not feel ashamed of her gifts, offering to teach her.
Level 4[]
Back in Wanda's room, Hunter is happy to see Wanda has started to read her grimoire again. Wanda explains it's actually her diary; she's not ready for spell books yet. There's a new entry about Hunter, whom she credits for helping her take her first steps forward. Wanda believes she is dangerous to be around, which Hunter counters by saying that makes her an excellent witch in combat. Wanda fears hurting the others and Hunter jokes that it's fine to cause Hydra pain.
Level 5[]
Wanda has finally regained the courage to be in the Library again. To Hunter is pleased to find that Wanda is no longer afraid of hurting others. The self-doubt clouding her mind has lifted, and she credits her recovery to Hunter. Hunter is happy to have helped Wanda, but tells her that the progress was all due to her own strength. Hunter offers continued support, and Wanda says she'll be there for them as well.

Trivia[]
- Scarlet Witch's backstory in the Marvel Universe has been revised several times, changing her from being a mutant to having powers through other means. Midnight Suns lists Mutants as part of her affiliation.
- According to the prequel novel Midnight Suns: Infernal Rising, Wanda convinced Magik to adopt bangs for her hairstyle, so that Illyana's hair would stay out of her eyes while fighting.[4] However, this contradicts the prequel animated short "A New Sun Must Rise," where Magik already has bangs when she meets Wanda for the first time.[5]
- Scarlet Witch often greets Hunter with "bunÄ ziua", which means "hello" in Romanian. Although she comes from Transia, there is no real-life Transian language, so Romanian was probably chosen by the writers to lend an Eastern European flavor.
