Opening[]
Crossbones enters a tomb where Doctor Faustus and several Hydra Mystics are in the midst of a ritual to reawaken Lilith. Moments later, the ritual is complete. Lilith emerges from an ornamented sarcophagus, feeding on the nearest Mystic before turning her powers on the Hydra troops in the vicinity.
Six Months Later[]
Iron Man and Doctor Strange approach Johnny Blaze, who is not happy to see them. Strange explains that the Prophecy of the Midnight Sun is nearing, and asks for Blaze's help. He refuses, angry about how things turned out the last time he helped Strange. A Soulless appears behind Iron Man and Doctor Strange. Blaze blasts it with his flaming shotgun before riding off on his motorcycle, leaving the other two to deal with the remaining enemies.
After they defeat the rest of the Soulless, Iron Man receives a call from Bruce Banner, warning them of an imminent threat to the Sanctum Sanctorum. Strange opens a portal to transport them back to the Sanctum, where they find Scarlet Witch. Moments later, Captain Marvel drops in through the room. Next, another portal opens and Hydra troops walk through. Strange sends Scarlet Witch to activate the Wards of Protection while the rest of the heroes stay and fight the troops.
As the last Hydra soldier is defeated, Wanda begins to raise the Wards, but something is blocking them. Suddenly another portal opens, and Lilith steps through, accompanied by a pair of Hellhounds. Strange begins to cast a spell but Lilith knocks him backward and gags him with magical energy. She freezes Iron Man mid-air, and ignores a powerful punch from Captain Marvel. Wanda surprises Lilith with a blast of chaos magic, giving Strange the opportunity to free himself and cast a spell. Lilith and her dogs are knocked backward through the portal and it closes behind them.
Doctor Strange reiterates that the prophecy is in motion, and that Lilith is growing stronger as the Midnight Sun approaches. He says that there is only one option available to them, and opens a portal. Wanda recognizes the destination and refuses to go back there. Strange tells her that she'll have to face her demons eventually, but allows her to remain in the Sanctum to maintain the Wards of Protection.
Doctor Strange, Captain Marvel, and Iron Man go through the portal and arrive near the Abbey. Strange explains that this area is located in a pocket dimension near Salem, Massachusetts. As they approach Hunter's Folly, they encounter Blade, Nico Minoru, Magik, and Ghost Rider, who are introduced as the Midnight Suns. Due to a misunderstanding, conflict threatens to erupt, but Caretaker appears and puts a stop to it.
Doctor Strange and Caretaker enter Hunter's tomb and begin a spell to awaken them. As the spell begins, Strange asks Caretaker to picture Hunter in her mind, leading into Character Creation. Once Hunter's appearance has been finalized, the story resumes. The spell has caused a reaction with Hunter's Collar as Caretaker voices her concern. Nico Minoru steps in and successfully completes the spell.
