Preparations[]
Nico wants Hunter's assistance with a surprise birthday party she wants to throw for Magik. Hunter agrees to assist, and in the days following, Nico touches base several times to ask for help.
First, Hunter is sent to ask Robbie to pick out a gift for Magik. Robbie enthusiastically agrees to do it.
Hunter is dispatched to talk to Blade about the decorations next. Blade is against the entire idea of a surprise party, as he knows that Magik hates surprises, and refuses to help. Blade suggests that Spider-Man might be a good alternative. Hunter speaks with Spider-Man who is happy to do it.
If the player chooses to tell Magik about the surprise party, she is appreciative for the forewarning, and will play along.
Finally, Nico asks Hunter to talk to Caretaker about making the cake for the party. Caretaker also doubts that Magik will like the idea of a surprise party, but agrees to make the cake.
Surprise![]
Nico is excited that the day is finally here and all the preparations are about to pay off. She tells Hunter to go into the Common Room with the others while she goes to bring Magik.
Nico and Magik arrive at the Common Room and everyone shouts, "Surprise!" Depending whether the player told Magik about the party in advance, her surprise is either genuine or an act.

Storm says Magik is not fond of surprises and that everyone should think about what the birthday girl really wants.
If the player told Magik about the party, she tells Hunter that she expected a smaller party. Hunter also felt it turned out to be more elaborate than what Nico described. Though it is worse than she expected, Magik says she will withstand it.
Cake Time[]
Nico thinks that Magik looks like she isn't enjoying herself. Hunter tells Nico that Magik doesn't like surprises; Nico denies that this is possible, because as her friend, Nico would know something like that. Nico says that with Wanda and Banner gone, a birthday party is a good way to lift spirits, and asks Hunter to tell Magik that it's time to cut the cake.
Hunter approaches Magik and asks how she is doing. Magik has had enough of the party and begins to rant angrily about Nico making her the center of attention at a party she didn't want. Nico comes over to try to defuse the situation, but instead it escalates. Magik decides to cut the cakeāby pulling out her Soulsword and using it to obliterate the cake, then opening a portal to Limbo which closes behind her as she storms off.
Nico is upset that she didn't see how this would affect her friend. She wants to fix things, but can't follow Magik to Limbo. However, she can use the Staff of One to send Hunter there. She asks Hunter to talk to Magik and make sure she is all right.

Captain America wants to know if he can help. He says that what happened was really a case of Magik fighting her own demons, with Nico getting caught in the cross-fire.
Doctor Strange tells Hunter that Limbo will be different from when they go through it at the Wild Cliffs. He advises Hunter to stay on the path... and to bring hand sanitizer.

Caretaker was afraid this would happen. She asks Hunter to make sure Magik knows the Abbey will always be a home to her.
Limbo[]
Speaking the words "Spare Key", Nico uses the Staff of One to open a portal to Limbo. As Hunter steps through, one of Magik's memories begins echoing through their mind. It was the day she was lured to Limbo as a child. Hunter hears how an unnamed creature played upon the child's belief that her family had forgotten about her birthday to trick her.
Hunter follows a long path and finally arrives at a small log cabin with Magik inside. She is surprised to see Hunter and demands to know how they got there without her knowing. Hunter explains that the Staff of One was able to bring them here.
Ending[]
At this point, there are several player choices that decide the rest of the story.
