Missions are one of the main focuses of the game, where Heroes do battle with their Enemies, gaining Experience Points and other rewards.
Mirror Table Missions[]
These missions are started by visiting the Mirror Table in the Abbey.
Story Missions[]
Main Article: Story Missions
Story Missions are those that are required to advance the story. Story Missions are always led by Hunter and require them to be part of the squad. Enemy levels in these Missions are automatically adjusted by the game to keep them close to the levels of the Heroes participating in the Mission.
General Missions[]
Main article: General Missions
Unlike story missions, General Missions are led by heroes other than Hunter. The Hunter can be brought on these missions, but they are not required. General Missions can be pursued at any time. Enemy levels in these Missions are automatically adjusted by the game to keep them close to the levels of the Heroes participating in the Mission.
Endgame Missions[]
Main article: Endgame Missions
Endgame Missions are unlocked upon completing the campaign, and are intended to present a challenge to players. Enemy levels in these Missions are fixed, and do not adjust in the way that those in Story and General Missions do. Enemy levels may exceed the maximum player level. Endgame Missions have exclusive rewards such as cosmetic items.
Other Missions[]
Challenge Missions[]
Main article: Challenge Missions
Challenge Missions are optional missions that can be undertaken to earn LEGENDARY Suits, Cards and Passive Abilities. These missions are unlocked via the Armory upgrade, and most heroes have additional criteria that must be met before their Challenge can be undertaken. Once a Challenge Mission is unlocked, it can be started in the Forge.
T.H.R.E.A.T. Room[]
Main article: T.H.R.E.A.T. Room
The T.H.R.E.A.T. Room is an upgrade for the Yard that allows Heroes to battle several waves of enemies in Limbo.
Trials[]
Main article: Trials
Trials are challenges from the Elder Gods which grant the use of Words of Power when they are cleared. Charlie joins Hunter when undertaking a Trial.
Ratings[]
At the end of a Mission, the player is awarded a rating of 1, 2, or 3 stars based on their performance. Higher ratings result in increased rewards. Obtaining 2 and 3 star ratings on a given Difficulty level will lead to unlocking higher Difficulty levels. Mission Rating seems to be tied to Gloss Bonus. For example, finishing a Mission in fewer turns will earn more Gloss and more Stars; however, if a hero gets KO'd, you will earn less Gloss and fewer Stars. It does not matter when a hero gets KO'd: if, say, your Objective is to Defeat Fallen Venom, and during the enemy's turn, Ghost Rider gets KO'd then Fallen Venom gets KO'd by Bleed, you will still lose Gloss. Also, note that the enemy turn counts as the next hero turn for the purposes of Mission Rating. For example, if Hunter were to cast Fortify on Turn 4, then KO the remaining enemies with Counter, the mission would still be deemed "FINISHED IN 5 TURNS".
