He is the actual devil

Hunter
Mephisto Symbol

Mephisto is a character from the Marvel Universe and also appears in Marvel's Midnight Suns as one of the antagonists. He's a character created by Stan Lee, John Buscema and Jerry Robinson. Before he appeared as Mephisto in his demonic form, he played his part as the serpent in Bible Tales for Young Folk #1, April, 1953.

In the game, Mephisto was the one who lured Magik into his realm when she was a child. In the comics it was the demon Belasco who captured her and brought her to Limbo. Mephisto appeared in various Ghost Rider comics, where he meddled with Johnny Blaze's life.

Story[]

He secretly is introduced at some point in the early game, when Magik describes some energetic shifts she had sensed in Limbo, but without really being able to name the cause.

I sensed something was there at the docks with you. Something dark and familiar.
~ Magik to Hunter after their return to the Abbey.

Mephisto once made a deal with Dracula, but the vampire reneged on their deal. Seeing a chance to get back at him via the Midnight Suns, Mephisto makes a deal with Spider-Man to turn Blood Venom back into regular Venom in exchange for wiping out the vampyre infestation.

Despite their past, Johnny Blaze has a plan in the game that involves Mephisto and Limbo to prevent the prophecy from unfolding. Details ā†’ Part II: The Sleeping Titan/Mission: All the Devils Are Here.

Mephisto has his final appearance in Part III: The Champion of the Gods/Event: Gray Seneschal where he is banished by Magik.

Notes[]

Players can reveal more of Magik's and Mephisto's story in Part I: The Awakening/Event: Magik's Birthday Party, where she will tell about her fall to the darkness when she was just a child. She doesn't dare say the name of the "Mysterious Creature" in this scene, but warns Hunter. Here, Magik also just describes the creature as "it". However, in a further dialogue in the Abbey much later, Magik will suddenly say "he", when she talks about this creature.

Trivia[]

  • There is a separate listing in the credits for Jason Isaac's portrayal of "Agaphisto", when Mephisto temporarily inhabits Agatha Harkness' body.
