Knockback is a Status Effect in Marvel's Midnight Suns.
Description
Push the target in a direction, dealing damage if they impact another unit or object.

Some cards have the KNOCKBACK effect.
After selecting a target, aim the Knockback direction with [button/key] to view potential impact points. Confirm the direction with [button/key] to push the enemy unit!

Slash will knock Hydra Commando into Hydra Elite.
Slash will knock Hydra Commando into Slide.
Before Strike+, Slide deflects Fallen Venom and Hydra Officer straight back.
After Strike+, Slide deflects Fallen Venom and Hydra Officer at an angle.
- Both heroes and enemies have abilities that can inflict Knockback.
- If the unit collides with something, Knockback deals [50% Offense] damage. If it collides with a unit, that unit will also be damaged.
- Knockback collisions are only way to damage Protected units.
- All the Knockback damage is considered as dealt by the unit who caused it, and it will trigger on hit effects to the involved units.
- If the Combat upgrade Teamwork Tactics I is unlocked, an enemy colliding with a hero has different behavior. See notes on that page.
- The preview of the Knockback has the following properties:
- The Knockback's direction is represented by a bold line inside this sector.
- If the enemy won't collide with anything, the direction is colored red.
- If the enemy collides with a unit, the direction ends with a starburst.
- If the enemy collides with the environment, the direction not only ends with a starburst, but also is colored yellow.
- The radius of the sector represents how far the unit will be pushed.
- Knockbacks with the environment may have specific interactions depending on the object. See Indirect Interactions for details.
- For single-target Knockbacks, the player chooses the direction where the enemy is knocked back.
- The Knockback's scope is a quadrant, which limits the angle of the direction.
- Some cards can Knockback in any direction, and thus have a circle has a scope instead.
- The quadrant's bisection lies on the line between the current position of the hero and the position of the enemy targeted by Knockback. It doesn't matter where the hero automatically moves to perform the action.
- The Knockback's scope is a quadrant, which limits the angle of the direction.
- For Knockbacks that affect all units in a circle, the direction of the Knockback for each unit is the difference between their position and the center of the circle.
- For Knockbacks that affect all units in a line (or segment), the direction of the Knockback for each unit is the direction of the attack, mirrored by the line that connects the positions of the unit and the hero (or the object in the case of slide Environmental Attacks).
- Units cannot be knocked into other units that are knocked back by the same action.
- If a hero does not automatically move when playing a card with a single-target Knockback, they can knock the target into themselves if the Knockback possible angles allow it. If the hero automatically moves, the enemy will phase through them instead.
- Units with either Grounded or Protecting aren't affected by Knockback, but can still be targeted by abilities that deal Knockback.
- Unlike Forceful Knockback, Knockback is incapable of passing through objects.
- Knockbacks are the only way to displace a unit outside their turn. This can be used to nudge enemies into more favorable positions.
- If two units occupy the same space for any reason, one unit will move away to accommodate the other. This can happen based on the final placement of a unit after performing an action or after receiving a Knockback.
