Heroes can become more powerful by gaining Experience Points, or XP, and increasing their level up to a maximum of 25.

Earning XP[]

XP is awarded to Heroes for most Card Plays. XP only goes to the Hero that played the card and is not shared with other Heroes. As soon as a Hero reaches the XP required to level up, they will do so mid-Mission and the associated Stat changes will take effect immediately.

XP is only earned when playing an Attack, Heroic, or Skill Card that is able to be slotted in a Deck. Thus, Go Binary and Collar Ability Cards do not generate XP, because they cannot be equipped in a deck. However, all Drain Soul and Limbo Portal cards do, even when they are generated by Passives.

Catch-up Mechanic[]

Heroes whose levels fall too far behind Hunter's will be automatically leveled up. This means that all heroes will generally be no more than 2 levels less than Hunter, but in some cases the gap can be as large as 3. This mechanism is intended to keep Heroes viable for Missions at all times.

If Hunter levels up mid-mission, the other heroes in the squad do not receive catch-up levels immediately; they level up when returning the Abbey.

T.H.R.E.A.T. Room[]

The T.H.R.E.A.T. Room may be used to gain additional XP outside of Missions.

Champion Levels[]

Heroes that reach the maximum level of 25 will earn Experience Points toward Champion Levels instead.

Hero Levels[]

Mission rewards are tied to hero level, so as the Hunter gains levels in combat the rewards offered on future missions will improve.

Don't worry about leveling every hero - As the Hunter's level increases, any weaker heroes will automatically level up so they don't fall far behind.

  • TIP: At higher difficulty levels, all heroes level up faster, granting access to higher rarity rewards soon!
