Charlie is Hunter's pet hellhound. [1] She can accompany the player when in the Abbey and can also be taken on certain Missions. [2]

In the Abbey[]
While in the Abbey, the player has the option to Praise or Pet Charlie, and she may also be set to Follow or Stay in a location.
Petting/Praising Charlie[]
Petting or Praising Charlie has several benefits:
- It builds her bond with the Hunter; each new level of bond will upgrade her abilities.[3]
Credit, Gloss, Arcane Knowledge, or an Arcane Key may be obtained.- It has been observed that petting Charlie can award Hunter with +1 Dark Balance. How this is triggered, or whether Light Balance can be obtained, are unknown as of Redemption DLC. This behavior was not known to have occurred prior to the release of the Redemption DLC so it is possible that it is new behavior since that update, whether intended or unintended.
Although Petting Charlie and Praising Charlie are separate actions, they both confer the same benefits. Charlie will only give rewards once per day regardless of which option is used, or how many times the player attempts it.[4]

Charlie may be seen in a painting with the title Agatha and Sara with Houndāā that can be found in Hunter's room in the Abbey.
Friendship Level[]
Charlie gains Friendship XP the first time Hunter Pets or Praises her each day. For each level of Friendship gained, one of her cards is upgraded.

Hunter adopted Charlie from a pack of Hellhounds that attacked the Abbey in the 1700s.
